Seeds Round Egg Plant – Agrimax (Solanum melongena) is a popular vegetable known for its smooth, round shape and rich purple color. Grow round eggplants in gardens or containers, making them a flexible option for different growing environments.

Soil and Location

Round eggplants thrive in well-drained, nutrient-rich soil with a pH level of 5.5 to 7.0. They prefer full sun and need at least 6 hours of sunlight daily for optimal growth.

Planting

Start seeds indoors 8-10 weeks before the last frost date. Sow seeds 1/4 inch deep in seed-starting mix. Keep the soil moist and warm, maintaining a temperature of 75-85°F. Transplant seedlings outdoors when they are about 6-8 inches tall and all danger of frost has passed. Space plants 18-24 inches apart in rows 24-36 inches apart.

Care

Water regularly, keeping the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Mulch around the plants to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Fertilize with a balanced fertilizer every 4-6 weeks to promote healthy growth. Stake plants if necessary to support heavy fruit.

Harvesting

Harvest round eggplants when they are firm and glossy, usually when they reach 3-5 inches in diameter. Cut the fruit from the plant with a sharp knife or pruning shears, leaving a short stem attached. Regular harvesting encourages continued fruit production throughout the growing season.
