Choose a sunny spot in your garden. Well-drained, loamy soil is ideal. Ensure the soil is rich in organic matter to promote healthy growth. Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water deeply once or twice a week, allowing the soil to dry out slightly between watering.

Planting the Curry Leaf Plant

Choose a healthy curry leaf plant from a nursery or propagate from cuttings or seeds. Select a location with full sun and well-drained soil. Ensure adequate space for the plant to grow, as it can reach up to 6-15 feet in height.  Dig a hole twice the size of the plant’s root ball. Place the plant in the hole, ensuring the top of the root ball is level with the soil surface. Morever, Fill the hole with soil and gently firm it around the base of the plant. Water thoroughly after planting.

Care and Maintenance

Apply a layer of mulch around the base of the plant to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Feed the plant with a balanced fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season. Organic options like compost or well-rotted manure work well. Furthermore,  Prune the plant regularly to maintain its shape and encourage bushier growth. Remove dead or damaged branches. Curry leaf plants are generally pest-resistant but keep an eye out for aphids and scale insects. Use organic insecticidal soap if needed.

Harvesting Curry Leaves

Begin harvesting when the plant is established, usually after 1-2 years. Pick mature leaves as needed, or trim whole branches. Regular harvesting encourages new growth.
